Why do we choose the clothing we do? What does it mean that some people choose to wear clothes too big for them? Too tight? Too young? Too old? Practicing clinical psychologist and wardrobe consultant Baumgartner explores the reasons why some people choose to wear bright, glittery clothes while others choose pieces that make them look bigger than they really are. She explains that many people want their clothing to disguise their true selves and help them fit in. The key question to ask, Baumgartner says, is: With whom does the person wish to fit? Clothes allow us to communicate to the world what kind of person we want to be. But why do some of us wish to look 20 when we are 40? Or, for that matter, 40 when we are 20? VERDICT This fascinating book tells readers how to examine their wardrobe and their emotions and create harmony by reconciling the two. Although Baumgartner's anecdotes occasionally feature men, this book will appeal primarily to women. Recommended.--Susan B. Hagloch, formerly with Tuscarawas Cty. P.L., New Philadelphia, OH
